Independent Democrat for United States Congress, in New York’s 5th Congressional District

Carl H. Achille, is a proud product of Haitian immigrant parents who came to New York in search of the American dream. 

Born in Brooklyn, New York in late July of 1983, Carl is no stranger to the communities of the 5th Congressional District, having grown up in the neighborhoods of Jamaica, Queens Village, and Elmont where he now resides with his family.

Carl brings years of public service, civic leadership and community advocacy to the table. Most recently serving as a local Civic Association President where he tackled quality of life, environmental issues, crime, and economic development. 

As a past Vice President of the Elmont Chamber of Commerce, Carl advocated for relief for our small business owners, smart and viable development at Belmont Park, and affordable housing for our young professionals and middle class families. For all of these efforts and his business acumen Carl was awarded the small businessperson of the year award in 2013 by the Nassau Council Chambers of Commerce. 

As an Iraq war veteran and criminal justice professional who has spent over the past ten years in law enforcement, Carl rose through the ranks first becoming a patrol officer in some of the most diverse, unique, and challenging sections of Brooklyn North, a quality of life conditions officer and street narcotics enforcement officer in East Harlem. Following, he was selected to be a member of the elite Organized Crime Control Bureau in the Gang Division earning the coveted gold Detective shield.  

Carl holds a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Law, in addition to a graduate study certificate of Police Leadership, and is currently in pursuit of a Masters Degree in Criminal Law and Procedure, all from the City University of New York at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

Carl is also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Academy of Professional Law Enforcement, the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), and Spartan Lodge 956 F. & A.M.
